About Me

I'm Koula, a former sorority girl and a recent (December 2010 is still considered recent, right?) graduate of California State University, Sacramento. I studied Anthropology, a choice I always feel like I have to vehemently defend when it comes up as a topic of discussion. "Uh, what can you do with that?" is usually the question I get. The truth is, I'm not exactly sure; I'm still trying to figure that part out. What I am sure of is that I love Anthropology. It is, by definition, the comparative study of human societies and cultures and their development. It's interesting, no, it's enthralling. I enjoyed every minute of my studies; learning about humanity from a physical, cultural, social, and linguistic perspective. It gave me a greater understanding and appreciation of human differences and what makes each of us unique. It helped me to become a more well-rounded person who knows a little bit about a lot of different subjects.

I began blogging to chronicle my travels when I left home for Europe just 2 weeks after graduation, but my blog slowly transitioned in to more of a travel/lifestyle blog. It is, still, about traveling far and well, but now both literally and figuratively through the journey of life.

I write about whatever makes me happy. This includes blogging about my family, my friends, traveling, socializing (especially at coffee shops, dive bars and clubs), beer, good food, shopping (for bargains!), photography, watching sports (football: San Francisco 49ers, basketball: Sacramento Kings, baseball: San Francisco Giants) and everything involving the beach (warm weather, sand, ocean, sun, bikinis and the smell of sun tan lotion).

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it.

Feel free to ask me any questions.
