I still can't believe it's taken me this long to write a post about my visit to Zakynthos.
It is a beautiful and breathtaking little island in the Ionian Sea.
Both of my mother's parents were born there.
While I don't visit it as often as I visit Crete, I was lovingly welcomed by all who knew my family.

1. On the ferry boat from Kyllini to Zakynthos. 2. My grandfather's home in the village of Agios Demetrios, where he was born. 3. My maternal grandparents. 4. View from atop the mountains. 5. Church of Agios Dionysios, the island's saint. His intact body is housed within the Church. 6. Me in front of the Church of Agios Dionysios. 7. Panagoula Church in the village of Vanato, where my grandmother was born. She was baptized in this church. 8. A view of Old Town Zakynthos and the port from Bohali. 9. Nauagio (Shipwreck) Beach. 10. Fishing boats. 11. Me, my cousin and his beautiful family. 12. The rocky coast of Zakynthos. 13. A view from within a cave on the coast. 14. The pristine jewel toned cave waters.
